Palisades at Broadmoor Park = Best Of Show
The Palisades at Broadmoor Park captured the honor "Best of Show" in the state's first Parade of Retirement Homes.
Six Pikes Peak area retirement communities were showcased in the two-day event featuring free food, drinks, entertainment and tours. Each community drew between 300-500 prospective residents or their caregivers. Communities typically average five prospective resident tours a week.
"This was a phenomenal turnout," said Shannon Rogers, Executive Director of the non-profit Senior Resource Council. "We had visitors travel from out-of-state to see what Colorado Springs could offer active seniors looking for retirement options. We're excited to see the event grow in coming years," said Rogers.
The Colorado Springs event was also featured on MSNBC and in AARP's national publication.
Guests who visited all six communities voted on award eight categories. The Palisades at Broadmoor Park took home the following awards:
- Best of Show--The Palisades at BroadmoorPark
- Best Activities Program -- The Palisades at BroadmoorPark
- Best Services & Amenities -- Runner-up: The Palisades at Broadmoor Park
- Friendliest Staff-- Runner-up: The Palisades at Broadmoor Park
The event was supported by Kaiser Permanente's Senior Advantage program, Imago Home Transitions, Peak Vista Community Health Center's Senior Clinic, Bekins Northwest Moving & Storage, Senior Housing Solutions, Things Forgotten, Averill Insurance Resources, Beo Personal Care & Mobility and Senior Magazine.
Another senior community tour is planned for Colorado Springs June 2010. Additional tours are being planned nationwide.
