Mary Ann Kluge
Mary Ann Kluge is an Associate Professor at the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) where she teaches courses in the Sports Health and Wellness Promotions program.
As a member of the Health Sciences department, Mary Ann oversees the Senior Fitness Instructor specialization for students who are interested in learning how to provide safe and effective physical activity programming for older adults. Mary Ann has her Master’s of Science (MS) degree in Adapted Physical Activity & Exercise Physiology and her doctorate (PhD) in Gerontology. Throughout her career, Mary Ann has helped people of all ages and ability levels participate and have FUN doing physical activity for health and fitness benefits.
As a fitness instructor and personal trainer, Mary Ann prides herself in getting to know the special needs and interests of her clientele and selecting relevant activities for them that will help them become more physically active and/or that will help them maintain a physically active lifestyle throughout their lifetime and into the later years. Mary Ann’s role at The Palisades is to coordinate the Wellness offerings. In this role, Mary Ann will offer advise about what is working (and what isn’t working) in the field of physical activity programming for older adults.
Mary Ann’s goal is to blend the needs and interests that Palisades’s residents have with state of the art programming. This programming will be based on what current research and practice indicates is the most efficient and effective way of determining the kind of wellness programming residents want and what research indicates is “good for” older adults.
